This is a 3km Open Water swim, clockwise around the famous SKELLIG MICHAEL - a World Heritage Site located 12kms off the coast of Kerry. Enjoy archaeology the amazing sea and wild life and the wide open timeless scenery of Skellig as never experienced before!! Swimmers are required to assemble Ballinskelligs Pier at *** PLSE NOTE NEW TIME 10am *** where waiting boats will take you to Skellig Michael (and back again!) for the start of the swim. High Tide is at 13:50 and the swim start is planned for 13:00. Return to Ballingskelligs Pier should be no later than 16:00. Swimmers may also be picked up Valentia Island or Portmagee by prior arrangement with organisers ***IMPORTANT SWIMMER CRITERIA*** The organisers INSIST on "Cold and Exposed Ocean" Open Water Swimming Experience. This is to ensure maximum safety and to ensure that ALL swimmers complete the full swim. The swimmer must wear a wetsuit for the Skellig Rock Swim if ANY of their Qualification Swims were in a wetsuit. Swimmer must have at least two independently recorded cold water open water swims of 3k of more in 2011/12. If any of these were in a wetsuit then the swimmer must wear a wetsuit for the Beginish swim. There will be no exceptions made for the above for swimmers from Ireland and GB. For swimmers in other countries, please apply to the Committee (email@example.com) with your similar or greater experience. All competitors must be a fully paid competitive member of a Swim Ireland club (or other FINA swim club if the swimmer lives outside of Ireland). MANDATORY - Registration (inc Body Marking) will take place at Ballinskelligs Pier at 11am immediately prior to departure boats. Enjoy!
