Event Description

The Connemara Rough Diamond is a unique adventure race held once a year on June 2nd in the heart of wild and rugged Connemara. Nowhere else will you find the "John Wayne Steeplechase" which starts the race over round hay bales on Lettergesh Beach, the course is assembled as the tides goes out, sometimes with the help of the competitors. And it’s hard to beat the “Fear Gorta” hand-made assault course through the 200 year old natural oak woods in Kylemore. Then cycle the scenic route past Kylemore Abbey to Letterfrack, then to top it off we have the world class trail to the summit of Diamond Mountain in Connemara National Park then descend to finish in Letterfrack for hot food, cold drinks & good times with your friends (old and new). Team Competition Rules

Team Competition rules are simple and are as follows: 4 people per team (all guys all girls or a mix) there is a time bonus for each female team member (this will be subtracted from overall team time). Each team must complete the expert course or the sport course. Quickest overall team time wins. Competitors can represent any county. More than 1 team per county allowed.
