Event Description   Bands every mile will pulsate the scenic course of the first ever Rock ‘n’ Roll Edinburgh ½ Marathon on Sunday, 15 April 2012! The course starts and finishes in Holyrood Park, winds through the breathtaking historical City Centre, and culminates with a post race concert in the park. Don’t miss this 13.1 mile street party!The 13.1-mile course will host 8,000 participants from across the United Kingdom and many foreign countries. The race will travel past many of Edinburgh’s major landmarks such as the Queen’s Holyrood Palace and Arthur’s Seat, making its way down the Promenade along the seaside and through the Portobello Neighborhood. Runners will run through the city centre, down Grassmarket where they’ll get a wonderful view of Edinburgh Castle and through the Meadows, looping their way through the University of Edinburgh campus and down George IV Bridge. The final mile of the half marathon will take you past Princes Street Gardens and down the Royal Mile before you reach the finish line and a post-race concert in Holyrood Park! Water stations are located at the start, finish and along the course. Powerade and GU Energy Gel will be served on course as well.
