***IMPORTANT SWIMMER CRITERIA*** For Beginish Island Solo Swim the organisers INSIST on "Cold and Exposed Ocean" Open Water Swimming Experience.
This is to ensure maximum safety and to ensure that ALL swimmers complete the full swim.
The swimmer must wear a wetsuit for the Beginish Island Swim if ANY of their Qualification Swims were in a wetsuit.
Swimmer must have accomplished one of the combinations below 1) to 5) - as a MINIMUM entry criteria AND must be also able to swim 1,500m in 45 minutes or less.
All these swims must be in the sea in Ireland or GB.___(The swimmer must commit to one of these programs to be completed before the start of the Beginish swim.)
___1) Any Open Water Solo Swim (2000-2009) 15,000m or greater
Examples: English Channel, Lough Erne, Windemere PLUS 4 open water swims in 2010 - of minimum 1,500m___2) Any Open Water Solo Swim (2006-2009) 8,000m or greater Examples: Loch Alua, 1st leg of the Champion of Champions PLUS 4 open water swims in 2010 - of minimum 1,500m AND 1 open water swims in 2010 of minimum 3,000m___3) Ireland or GB Open Water Sea Solo Swim (2008-2009) 5,000m or greater PLUS 8 open water swims in 2010 - of minimum 1,500m AND 1 open water swim in 2010 - of minimum 3,000m___4) Ireland or GB Open Water Sea Solo Swim (2009) 3,000m or greater (this includes completion of a solo Beginish Island swim in 2009) PLUS 4 open water swims in 2010 - of minimum 1,500m AND 1 open water swims in 2010 - of minimum 3,000m AND 1 open water swims in 2010 - of minimum 5,000m___5) Ireland or GB Open Water Sea Solo Swim (2010) PLUS 4 open water swims in 2010 of minimum 1,500m AND 5,000m or greater AND 2 open water swims in 2010 - of minimum 3,000m AND 1 open water swims in 2010 - of minimum 5,000m___These swims should be part of a recorded event but other swims will be considered by the committee.
There will be no exceptions made for the above for swimmers from Ireland and GB.
